The B.A. program in Economics at the Directorate is a conventional program focusing on Basic Macro Economics, Micro Economics, Monetary Economics and Statistical methods. It imparts basic knowledge to students‟ community to understand the world and national economic activities and policies in a holistic manner.

Eligibility

  • Pass in 10+2 (or) Equivalent

Degree Overview 

The B.A. program in Economics intends to be inter/multi- disciplinary in scope. This program is driven by five core areas.

  • Basic economic thought
  • Indian economic issues
  • Trade and Development
  • Basic statistical methods
  • Basic application of mathematics in economics

About

The Department of Economics in the Directorate of Distance Education of Madurai Kamaraj University is one of the oldest departments in the Directorate started in the late 1970s. The department currently offers both U.G. and P.G. programs in Economics.
